New prototypes: 1 week vs 1 day of growth

O. Nidiformis 1 day after inserting spawn, the substrate is both bird seeds and straw. 1 day after inserting spawn. The top row containd O. Nidiformis, the bottom row P. Stipticus. Substrate is straw and bird seeds. The 8 most left ones are after 1 week, the 8 most right ones after 1 day. The flasks that are marked contain P. Stipticus, the others O. Nidiformis. Substrate is bird seeds. The 4 most left ones are after 1 day, the rest is after one week. The top row contains P. stiticus and the bottom O. Nidiformis. The death of P. Stipticus

3 months old O. Nidiformis (6 most left bulbs) and P. Stipticus (4 most right bulbs). O. Nidiformis has fully grown inside the bulb and is bright white, P. Stipticus has died and doesn't produce any light anymore. The cause of this is probably lack of oxygen since the opening and therefor access to air is very small and isn't able to reach the entire substrate. Since these are all from different batches, it's safe to conclude that O. Nidiformis is better suited for this type of shape.

Prototypes after 3 weeks

Left 4 most bulbs are 2 weeks old, the others are 3 weeks old. Top row contains P. Stipticus, bottom row O. Nidiformis. After inoculation, birdseed started growing fastest. However after about 2 weeks, straw catches up and fills the bulb better (as seen in the 1st picture). Also in light production , straw seems to be the brightest. The left most 8 have been growing for 3 weeks, the others for 2 weeks. The flasks with a dot contain P. Stipticus, the others O. Nidiformis. Similar to the test above, its is clear that bird seed doesn't grow that fast. Only 4 of these actually have started growing the mycelium (the 3 in the bottom left and the one in the middle). The middle left one and the 2nd one in the top row actually are contaminated with the wrong fungus. This could be the result of a non air-tight fit of the cork.
