Pictures 06-10-2018

New prototypes: 1 week vs 1 day of growth

O. Nidiformis 1 day after inserting spawn, the substrate is both bird seeds and straw. 1 day after inserting spawn. The top row containd O. Nidiformis, the bottom row P. Stipticus. Substrate is straw and bird seeds. The 8 most left ones are after 1 week, the 8 most right ones after 1 day. The flasks that are marked contain P. Stipticus, the others O. Nidiformis. Substrate is bird seeds. The 4 most left ones are after 1 day, the rest is after one week. The top row contains P. stiticus and the bottom O. Nidiformis. From left to right: straw, bird seeds, hemp, straw and bird seeds.

Comparing with phosphorescent paint

These pictures were taken at intervals of 30 minutes with a shutter speed of 15 minutes each. The boxes on top contain substrate with bioluminescent mycelium grown into. Underneath this is a small container filled with phosphorescent paint. The most left picture is taken immediately after exposing both the paint and mycelium to a bright light for five minutes. Afterwards, the setup was kept in entire darkness during photographing. These pictures are equivalent with what appeared visible with the naked eye during this experiment. The slight deviation in the brightness of the mycelium is only because of small inconsistencies in the shutter duration. Their brightness is actually the same in all pictures.
